Since Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was released in 2017, players have enjoyed connecting with other campers and monthly updates that were jam-packed with events, villagers, and amazing cosmetics. These will be no more as the mobile game reaches its seven-year anniversary. Campers will be saying good-bye to Pocket Camp’s online services on November 29, 2024. Nintendo states that a paid version of the game will be available to download on the Apple and Google Play Stores with the price to be disclosed closer to October.
The upcoming paid version of Pocket Camp will not require a continuous online connection and will not have features from the free-to–play version that require that connection, such as visiting other campers. There will also be no in-app purchases. It seems that the game is trying to get a little closer to the usual console or handheld release format.
Players of the free-to-play version will be able to transfer their save data to the paid version by linking their Pocket Camp accounts to their Nintendo Accounts. Those who purchased any of the subscriptions are encouraged to check out Nintendo’s article regarding subscription services and cancellations.
While there have been questions about the monetization of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp in the past, it has turned into a game that plenty of fans of the series have enjoyed. It won’t ever take the place of a full release on a console, but if you want a little more Animal Crossing to bring with you wherever you go, you might want to look into this new paid version.
