If you joined the Battlefield 6 Beta, you were probably met with some massive queues. Before the beta even went live, over 70,000 players were waiting for their opportunity to jump into the game. At certain times, the queue even got as high as 250,000. While it was certainly impressive, it also raised concerns for many. Players began to question how the developers plan on handling that many players at launch. We have to admit, we are questioning that as well. After all, games nowadays are expected to have launch issues. Luckily, the Battlefield 6 devs are preparing for the game’s launch by tackling the server queue issue.
Battlefield 6 Devs Prep For Launch
Recently, Christian Buhl, the Studio Technical Director at Ripple Effect, spoke with Comic Book about the server queue concerns for launch. Buhl told Comic Book, “We’ve made many adjustments to our projections thanks to the success of our open beta.” Basically, the team is simulating the number of players they are expecting to see at launch in hopes that it prevents any unnecessarily long queues or server issues.
Buhl told Comic Book that the team is “overestimating how many players will be playing Battlefield 6 at launch to prepare their servers.” This is mostly to prepare the servers for any issues. There is still the chance that players will encounter a queue when they launch into the game for the first time. Buhl stated, “We also use the server queue for rate limiting. So the moment we turn the game on, if a million people connect in the first minute, we’re going to have a queue just as we move people in.”
Battlefield games and many other online shooters are known for having server issues at launch because the developers often underestimate the number of players jumping into the game. Thankfully, the Battlefield 6 developers seem to have everything handled for the launch of Battlefield on October 10, 2025.
