There is no denying the rivalry that the Call of Duty and Battlefield series have had. This long-standing feud gets heated up every time Battlefield comes along with a new game, but it has never been more apparent than now. Since the release of Battlefield 6, the marketing team has been throwing shade at the Black Ops series, and Treyarch and Activision have been intentionally scheduling events to coincide with Battlefield 6 launches and events. The latest event is a second Black Ops 6 free trial, which is set to start shortly after Battlefield 6 launches its first official season.
Black Ops 6 Free Trial Coincides With Battlefield 6 Season 1 Launch
Black Ops 6 is getting a second free trial since Battlefield 6 was released, and it coincides with the launch of Battlefield 6 season 1. The first season for Battlefield 6 begins today, on October 28, and is launching with the release of the battle royale mode called RedSec. To mark the occasion, Black Ops 6 is becoming free-to-play for a few days, allowing players to try the game out for free from October 28 to November 3. This includes access to the multiplayer and zombies game modes.
This isn’t the first time Treyarch and Activision have pulled a move like this, as there was a previous free trial that took place from October 9 to October 16. Before that, Treyarch and Activision timed the Black Ops 7 beta to coincide with the Battlefield 6 launch, with the first half of the beta taking place from October 2 to October 5 and the second half of the beta taking place between October 5 and October 9. Battlefield 6 was then launched on October 10.
It appears as though Battlefield 6 has left a massive impression on the Call of Duty series, with many criticizing CoD for becoming stale over the years and making poor decisions with the multiplayer and zombies modes. Currently, Battlefield 6 has been attracting more players, with SteamDB showing a player count of around 180,000 players for Battlefield 6 and only 50,000 for Black Ops 6.
