The release date for Borderlands 4 is approaching fast, and more and more information about the game keeps getting revealed. Fans finally got their hands on the game for a brief period at Borderlands Fan Fest, and while the focus was on gameplay, some are questioning what we will encounter in the story. The latest story trailer revealed many of the characters we can expect to see in Borderlands 4, but players are questioning where one character is – Ava. They are also wondering whether or not she even needs to be in the game.

Borderlands 4 fans agree Ava shouldn’t be involved

Fans have recently talked about what characters should be included in Borderlands 4. Of course, when we discuss characters, there is one in particular that is rather controversial: Ava. She was introduced in Borderlands 3 as Maya’s apprentice and was a major focus in the story, eventually inheriting Maya’s powers. Despite her being a major character in the game, fans did not take kindly to her bratty nature and generally thought of her as unlikable.

I find it so insane how Borderlands 3s whole story focused on making this character the future of the franchise, all to potentially not even show up in the next game

As controversial as it may be I do hope she returns in SOME capacity just so 3s story doesn’t feel wasted pic.twitter.com/kMc00AZQzN

One user on X by the name of Ccrypto5 posted about Ava, saying, “I find it so insane how Borderlands 3’s whole story focused on making this character the future of the franchise, all to potentially not even show up in the next game. As controversial as it may be, I do hope she returns in some capacity, just so 3’s story doesn’t feel wasted.”

The community came together and agreed that Ava should be left out of Borderlands 4. One user stated, “Nah, bro, 99% of people would hate that. They could make her the coolest character, but it’s too late.” Another user said they would “rather the plot be disjointed than see terrible characters from previous works.” It didn’t stop there; many others showed their disdain for the character and would rather not see her make another appearance in the franchise.
