PAX West has officially come and gone, meaning we have received some major updates for games being released in the fall of 2025. One such game that received some massive announcements is Borderlands 4. The developers laid out the endgame for everyone, and while some are impressed, a large chunk of the community believes that there isn’t enough. Another massive announcement made by the team was about future DLC, specifically what players can expect from the first major story DLC, including the first DLC Vault Hunter, who bears a vague resemblance to one of the Borderlands 3 player characters.

Borderlands 4 Fans Think DLC Vault Hunter Silhouette Looks Like Zane

One of the biggest reveals during the Gearbox showcase at PAX West was the game’s first major story DLC, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This DLC includes new main story missions, a new map zone, new side missions, new legendary gear, and new cosmetics. Oh, and it also contains the first new DLC Vault Hunter.

While we didn’t get to learn the name of this Vault Hunter or what their abilities will be, we did get to see a silhouette. It was easy to write off the design as being reminiscent of a cowboy or possibly a vampire hunter, but some have been quick to point out that this silhouette looks very similar to the original design of Zane from Borderlands 3.

YOO! This was concept art for Zane for borderlands 3. The similarities between this and the silhouette of the new vault hunter can’t be a coincidence. Looks like we are potentially getting a gunslinger/vampire hunter style character for Borderlands 4!

As YouTuber Moxsy pointed out via his X account, “The similarities between [Zane’s concept art] and the silhouette of the new Vault Hunter can’t be a coincidence.” He isn’t the first to point out the similarity, as he pointed out that u/IStealBikes on Reddit found it first.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Gearbox included a gunslinger character, with Nisha being a playable character in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Thanks to this inclusion, it doesn’t seem likely that the new character will be a gunslinger, but perhaps more of a witch/vampire hunter.
