As you might expect, as you advance throughout your journey in Baldur’s Gate 3, the encounters you get into will be more difficult. If everyone stayed the same power as when you started the game, things would get pretty boring fast. Everyone’s progression will be different in a game like this, though. With that in mind, do enemy levels scale in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Does Baldur’s Gate 3 have level scaling?

There is no enemy level scaling in Baldur’s Gate 3. Every character that can enter combat outside of your party has a pre-determined level that stays the same regardless of your level coming in. For example, in Act 1, you could make your way to the Goblin Fort early, but the enemies there will be the same level as if you had spent time doing other things and leveled up.

As you progress through the adventure, combat encounters will continue to be difficult. For that reason, we recommend not skipping too many fights so your party can be at a good level to contend with the big load of events that happen in Acts 2 and 3. You will level up quite a bit just by playing, but if you are finding encounters difficult, you should look at your active quests. Doing some exploring can earn your party some much needed experience. You won’t need to worry about enemy scaling if you have the right build and plan going in.

Of course, levels aren’t everything in Baldur’s Gate 3. Make sure you are kitting your party out with the right abilities, feats, and gear so they can have the most success. By the time you reach the max level at 12, you can have a strong foundation that can contend with anything BG3 throws at you.
