There has been a lot of controversy around Dragon’s Dogma 2. Fans have complained about everything from the frame rate to the traversal methods and even the graphics. While many can’t seem to see eye to eye with the game, there is one thing they seem to agree on; the Trickster vocation isn’t much fun. Don’t take our word for it. A quick Reddit search will show you some of the many who are disappointed with the class’ features.

When it comes to the many classes or vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, the Trickster vocation is a pretty big outlier. This is mainly due to the fact that it is a class that doesn’t deal damage. The most you can do is simply knee a creature in the face if you are clinging to it. Mostly, you will spend your time in combat casting out illusions and making enemies fall for your trickery. While this sounds fun in practice, there are many areas where it falls short.

Trickster can suck it.

A simple post on Reddit by user DoctorNoots reads that “Trickster can suck it” in a post that shows every vocation maxed out except for the one in question. One user who commented sums up our feelings about the class fairly well. They said, “The pawn AI can often be unreliable(especially with golems and targeting the bottom of the foot) so having to rely on your pawns to deliver a finishing blow that they fail to do so can be a little frustrating.”

There are many who agree that the Trickster class, in theory, sounds very fun. The issue is that the execution doesn’t allow you to properly take out larger creatures or hit them in their weak spots. Being completely unable to deal damage is a major setback in a game that isn’t designed for such trickery, especially during large-scale fights. We would love to scare a dragon off a cliff but the most we can do is make it target us first and pray our Pawn knows to hit the heart.
