The Twenty-Sided Tavern, a live theatre experience from Dungeons & Dragons, is launching in May. This event boasts endless replayability, allowing the audience to vote on what the stage performers do, where they go, and what challenges they encounter. This is made possible through the use of Gamiotics software on your phone.

This is an interesting and unique take on watching D&D campaigns. For years fans have enjoyed viewing livestreams through platforms like Twitch. Though the majority of these are not controlled by the viewers, some special events have allowed viewers to contribute to the adventure.

The Twenty-Sided Tavern takes it one step further. This is a live, onstage D&D game. Audience members can vote on their phones, which makes sense. Or they are allowed to call out suggestions, which makes less sense. Perhaps it is up to the stage performers if they go with the majority vote or with the first suggestion they can make out over the crowd.

IT’S TIME. Tickets to the NYC launch of Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern are NOW AVAILABLE. Join the hilarious, interactive adventure at the Tavern, with dates starting on Sunday, May 5th. #DnDTST #TwentySidedTavern #DnD pic.twitter.com/S0YXCHsq4w

While there is a set cast, the fact that the fans direct what they do means the performance can be different every single night. They may even invite audience members onto the stage to participate in certain parts of the game. This being D&D and all, while children older the age of four are welcome that doesn’t mean the content will be kid-friendly.

The show is currently playing in previews at Stage 42 in New York City at 422 W 42nd St. It starts its official run on May 5th. It is expected to run for two hours with a fifteen-minute intermission. Tickets are available on their website. There is currently no end-date set for the show. The website states that how long it runs and how many other cities it tours to is dependent upon success and fan interest.
