The Fallout series on Amazon Prime has definitely reignited people’s interest in the series. Fallout 76 saw its player numbers surpass 1 million in a day, and all five Fallout games saw nearly 5 million combined. Despite a very poor launch in 2018, people are revisiting the game following multiple expansions and improvements and liking what they see.

Thank you to the over one million of you who adventured with us in #Fallout76 in a single day… pic.twitter.com/rbariEI4q8

This news came from the official Fallout X page. While this is overall great news for the series which had supposedly been on the downturn in recent years, we are curious to know more. Specifically, what timeframe are these player numbers from? Did it happen in the last 24 hours? Maybe last weekend after the show premiered? How big of an increase in players was this compared to before the show? How many of those are new and returning players? There’s a lot of questions we still have.

When Fallout 76 first launched, things were not great for Bethesda. The game was riddled with bugs and complaints about not being very fun. The lack of NPCs threw players off, and many wondered if the live service nature could survive. As a testament to Bethesda’s dedication to the product and the fans, they have done a good job of fixing many issues and having something that players want to come back to.

Obviously, a big portion of this new engagement in Fallout 76 player numbers and the series overall has to do with the success of the show. As we said above, though, there have been additions to the game that people love. It will be interesting to see how long the game can keep up these impressive player numbers and if they will still play when the next expansion comes.
