Following the recent Nintendo Direct that included Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 coming to the Switch next month and a teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, some people are looking for hints that Nintendo may be working on Super Mario Galaxy 3 with a Switch 2 release not too far in the future.

The “Evidence” Towards Super Mario Galaxy 3

As of now, a lot of the “evidence” people are pointing to for the existence of Super Mario Galaxy 3 can be attributed to a lot of hopeful thinking. Of course, we’ve got the incoming movie and game bundle, which will finally bring Galaxy 2 to the Switch at an inflated price. Because Pikmin had a similar bundle release before Pikmin 4, some think that is another clue towards Galaxy 3 being on the way.

The storybook additions for Rosalina are also sending off the alerts as a hint that a new game is coming. Some say the passage at the end of the trailer is a big hint for the game.

“Goodbye to those we met on this journey. I will cherish the memories forever. And to those we will meet on the next journey, hello.”

Whether you decide to buy into these as hints or just a coincidence with a company trying to sell more products is up to you. Knowing how weird Nintendo

Is Nintendo Working on Super Mario Galaxy 3?

The Nintendo Direct gave no official word on the existence of Super Mario Galaxy 3. We don’t even know what the next big Mario game will be, or when we can expect it.

Earlier this year, Donkey Kong Bananza was released. That is notable because the team that made Super Mario Odyssey also worked on that. Normal thinking would have you believe that the team is solely focused on DLC for Bananza at the moment, with maybe a small group getting started on the next 3D Mario, which could be a long way away.

With all of that said, we don’t know what’s going on with Nintendo. If it wanted to make a Super Mario Galaxy 3 with some elements from Odyssey, we wouldn’t turn that down for a second. However, Shigeru Miyamoto and Yoshiaki Koizumi could very well want something completely new for the next big Mario adventure.
