It Takes Two took the world by storm when it was released in 2021. The action-adventure platformer quickly went viral, and people all over the internet shared their favorite clips, moments, and highlights from the game. What drew people so close to the game is its emphasis on cooperation. It Takes Two is designed around being played with two people, and many of the game’s different puzzles, sections, levels, and more are designed to be navigated by a pair, hence the name. If you have played the game and want more co-op action, here are some games like It Takes Two to enjoy with a friend or family member.

Games that are similar to It Takes Two

A Way Out

A Way Out is made by the same development team as It Takes Two. Hazelight Studios has made a name for itself with its unique style of cooperative gameplay. The game shares many similarities with It Takes Two, having two players navigate puzzles, levels, and more together. You and play as either Vincent or Leo as they work together to escape prison and hunt down a crime lord who wronged them both. While the game shares similarities in gameplay, its tone and art direction are different. Rather than sharing the cartoony and sometimes comedic style of It Takes Two, A Way Out has a much darker tone and atmosphere.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

If you’re a big fan of the Star Wars franchise, any of the Lego Star Wars Titles are great to pick up, but we recommend Lego Star Wars: the Skywalker Saga. This game follows all three trilogies of the main Star Wars films, starting with Phantom Menace and ending with The Rise of Skywalker. Each game compiles the movies into fun Lego adventures that can be played with local co-op. There’s plenty of comedy and puzzles that players of any age can enjoy as they go through these classic stories.

Portal 2

For puzzle fans, another great choice is Portal 2. This classic game offers a co-op campaign with a different setting, characters, and levels than the single-player campaign, which is also great in its own right. You and your companion will be equipped with portal guns, which you will use in all kinds of manner as you pass various tests made by the ever-omnipotent and test-crazed robo-boss GLaDOS.

Overcooked: All You Can Eat

The Overcooked franchise has made a name for itself with its energetic and crazy gameplay. In Overcooked: All You Can Eat, you get access to both games that have players cook, prepare, and serve food within a time limit. Every restaurant has a different quirk about it, though. The games allow for up to four-player co-op, and players can play locally or online. These games will require great teamwork, as players can get easily overwhelmed with some levels; it’s key to have good communication skills and try to maintain your relationships after the game.
