E3 is long gone and in it’s place we are seeing a rise of smaller independently led games showcases. Summer is just about here and the time we see indie festivals like the Women-Led Game Showcase hit Twitch and YouTube. With all of the amazing games on the horizon, I hopped on the stream and am sharing a few of my most anticipated games from the showcase.
I present these in no particular order. Each is made by a terrific and talented team or person and they are deserving of our time to play.
RA RA BOOM

RA RA BOOM has been on my list for a few months now. Developed by Gylee Games and published by Midwest Games, you play as a group of ninja cheerleaders from space. If that isn’t enough to get you interested, there’s more. You fight to save Earth from AI robots that have gone rogue. It reminds me of classic arcade games and I’m here fore it. The art style looks amazing and the gameplay is fast-paced. We’ve only gotten a few trailers but I am ready for a demo any day now.
Just Crow Things

Unbound Creations is developing and publishing Just Crow Things. If you enjoyed Untitled Goose Game, then imagine yourself as a crow instead of a goose. You’re just a little birb in a large world stealing coins, pooping on humans, and making animal friends. It’s a mix of cozy and chaos.
Dungeon Clawler

Dungeon Clawler from Stray Fawn Studio is a combination of roguelike and deckbuilder. By using a claw in a crane machine, you grab weapons and gear that benefit your character in battles. You’ll also gain cards you can select to fight and hopefully come out on top. When you’re not in the claw game, you’re running through a dungeon collecting items and building your deck of many things. It’s a unique concept with a great soundtrack as well.
Urban Jungle

Kylyk Games’ cozy game Urban Jungle has you decorating your home with plants and gardening accessories. Whether you’ve got a green thumb in real life, or— like me — all your houseplants die even though you take care of them, you’ll find solace and chill vibes here as you just simply tidy up your home. There’s also a housecat that you can pet and that’s always a win in my book.
Yes, Your Grace: Snowfall

The sequel to 2020’s Yes, Your Grace, sees winter come to your kingdom. Snowfall has you ruling your wintry empire as you navigate the politics of the throne and take care of your people. The kingdom management game from Brave At Night looks stunning and the gameplay has you balancing resources, taxes, hiring agents, and making challenging choices all to see if your kingdom still stands.
These were some of several indie games shown during the Women-Led Game Showcase during Summer Game Fest. There were more than 20 games featured during the stream and many of which have demos available on Steam.
