There are many fiends roaming the wilds in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. One such fiend is the legendary Quetzalcoatl – a fierce bird that will tear you to shreds if you aren’t careful. This early-game enemy is not easy to take down so you will need to make sure you are well prepared before you go into this fight.

If you are new to Final Fantasy 7, you probably don’t want to go into this fight on dynamic difficulty unless you want a real challenge. You will also want to know how to change party leaders so you have the right person in the lead. Here is where to find the Quetzalcoatl in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as well as how to beat it and all the rewards you will get.

Quetzalcoatl location in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

The Quetzalcoatl in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is located to the southwest of Kalm. Its location will be revealed on your map once you have found four Lifesprings in the Grasslands region of the game.

When you reach the area, you will need to hold the triangle button to summon the beast to the area. This will bring the fight to you. Remember, there is no running away from this fiend so you will need to stand and fight until your party or it is defeated.

The Quetzalcoatl is a formidable foe in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth but it is weak to ice damage. Using spells like Blizzard or Tifa’s ice move Icy Impulse can quickly put pressure on it. Use this to your advantage and have Tifa use ice abilities on it. If you have the Fire and Ice Materia, it is useful to have this on another party member such as Cloud for additional ice attacks.

This fiend performs very powerful attacks whenever it transitions from the ground to the air and vice-versa. Keep this in mind and keep your distance when it transitions. The Quetzalcoatl will use an electric move that rains lightning bolts down on the party. Keep moving to avoid these bolts. This fiend will also perform a sweeping strike and a charge. These moves are fairly easy to dodge or block as long as you watch for them. You will mainly want to watch out for the two large attacks that it performs but if you keep your distance during transitions you shouldn’t need to worry.

As far as summons go, we accidentally summoned the Moogle and Chocobo which wasn’t bad against the beast but also wasn’t the greatest. The best battle strategy for summons is for Aerith to bring out Shiva. After all, this ice deity is powerful against the fiend.

All Quetzalcoatl rewards in FF7 Rebirth

For defeating the Quetzalcoatl, you will get the Quetzalcoatl Talon. This item is used to make the Windmill Gear for the Where the Wind Blows side quest that you can pick up from the community board in Kalm.
