The first trailer for the Minecraft Movie was released and it did not leave a great first impression. In fact, there are many who are swearing that they will not see the Jumanji-esque film thanks to the poor CGI, generic-looking comedy, and how the characters look like they will be dancing in front of a green screen the entire time. Many have taken note of the terrible trailer and it is reminding them of the first Borderlands movie trailer. We can only hope that the Minecraft Movie turns out better than the 100 million-dollar flop that was the Borderlands film.

Recently, user Darkat5 posted on Reddit sharing their distaste for the Minecraft Movie trailer. In the post, the user said, “If you think the Borderlands movie was bad, wait till you see the Minecraft trailer.” They went on to say, “I know it’s not even gonna be in theaters till April 2025 so it’s very early and possibly unfair to judge. But c’mon.. it gave me the same vibes as the first BL trailer.”

One user in the comments said, “It looks like it could be the worst thing I’ve ever seen. The current title holder is the CATS movie.” Another user stated, “I loathe that so many video game adaptions are live-action. I’m not asking for these things to be rendered in the game’s engine or anything, but would a 2D stylized Borderlands movie be too much to ask?”

Many are calling out the fact that the Minecraft Movie is not going to be entirely animated and is instead a mix of 3D animation and live action. It calls attention to the actors in a bad way. Granted, we know this movie is going to be focused on children, but there are plenty of Minecraft fans who are older who will resent the studio for making a mockery of a game they like.
