Do you remember the Friday the 13th title that appeared back in 2017? If not, it’s okay. The game vanished like Jason Vorhees in the night, only it didn’t come back like the horror movie antagonist. The developer, however, did come back, and they are setting their sights on a new horror movie icon: Michael Myers, best known as the killer in the Halloween movies. Announced during the Future Games Showcase at Gamescom 2025, Illfonic is back with another horror title that is both a single-player and multiplayer experience. Are you prepared to go toe-to-toe with the boogie man?

Halloween Game Announced at Gamescom

Halloween, the movie that is, is heralded as one of the best slasher films ever created, which is why it is a bit of a surprise that it took this long for the movie to get turned into a game. With that aside, Illfonic, best known for creating the Friday the 13th game and the Killer Klowns from Outer Space title, announced it is working on a game based on John Carpenter’s masterpiece. Even better, the game will be single-player and multiplayer.

“In the multiplayer mode, you and up to four other players can join up to help free your town from death itself,” a post reads on the Illfonic website. While the multiplayer mode focuses on taking Michael Myers down, the single-player mode takes on a different viewpoint: the viewpoint of the killer. “Playing as Michael Myers, walk through memorable locations from the 1978 classic, such as the Myers House, or bask in the recreated atmosphere of Haddonfield.”

The single-player mode will also feature an “emphasis on exploration and replayability.” It sounds as though the Halloween game is shaping up to be a worthwhile experience, and we are excited to see more of it in the future. Currently, there is no concrete release date, but the game is slotted for 2026. You can currently add it to your wishlist on Steam and other platforms.
