The Sinking City 2 has been on the community’s mind since the announcement of the game back in March 2024. Since the game hit Kickstarter, it has been backed by over 6,000 players and has amassed over 550,000 Euros. It is clear that there is excitement around this game, which is why it is unfortunate that The Sinking City 2 has been delayed. The delay has been confirmed by developer Frogwares, with reasons for the delay consisting of challenges from the ongoing war in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion.

The Sinking City 2 Delayed to 2026

Earlier today, developer Frogwares posted about the delay for The Sinking City 2 on the game’s X page. The post states, “We’ve made the decision to move the release of The Sinking City 2 into the first half of 2026.” This was posted alongside a letter from the Frogwares team. The letter says the following:

“After a lot of discussion within the team, we’ve made the decision to shift the release window for The Sinking City 2 to the first half of 2026.

While we hadn’t shared a specific release date, we know how many of you were expecting a 2025 launch – and so were we. However, ongoing challenges related to the war in Ukraine, including frequent power outages and the need to constantly adapt to unstable and dangerous conditions, have affected our development pace. Rather than rushing to meet a target that no longer makes sense, we’re taking the time needed to finish the game properly and will share a new date once we’re confident in it.

This additional time also gives us the chance to polish our first-ever survival horror experience. Shifting from decades of investigative adventure design to a genre built on tension, pacing, combat, and atmosphere has been both exciting and demanding, and we want to make sure every part of it feels right when you finally play it.”

With all of that being said, we hope the development of The Sinking City 2 continues smoothly and with little to no interference, as does the community as a whole.
