Call of Duty Zombies has proven popular enough to keep coming back in various titles. It may not be available in every CoD game, but you can expect it in most titles, even when Treyarch doesn’t have a hand in it. It has been just a year since MW2, which did not have a Zombies mode. With that in mind, the next Modern Warfare game might not have given you the inclination that it would bring back this fan-favorite mode. Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have Zombies?
Will MW3 have Zombies?
While it is a little surprising, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have a Zombies mode. MW2 did not have a Zombies mode, so seeing it come this time is surprising. Not only that, but this is the first time the Modern Warfare subseries will feature Zombies. We learned that detail in the below tweet and accompanying blog post talking about what to expect from the new title.
Unfortunately, we do not have any more details on what the Zombies experience will look like this time. MW3 has yet to be revealed, so we don’t know what development studio will be doing this version. Treyarch is by far the most popular studio for Call of Duty Zombies, but that studio is hard at work on the next Black Ops game for 2024, and it likely wants to keep their next Zombies outing for that. It did give Vanguard a Zombies mode even though it wasn’t the lead developer on that game, and the community universally disliked that version for various reasons.
Given the short turnaround time on MW3 from last year’s game, we don’t expect Zombies to be that big if an experience this time. It might just be a smaller mode with simple maps to give players a chance to survive as long as possible. We would be happy to get another deep offering like Treyarch usually gives, but we don’t anticipate it. Maybe we will be proven wrong when the game is revealed.
