The characters, or Nightfarers, in Elden Ring Nightreign each have their strengths and weaknesses. While some are good at long-ranged attacks, others are amazing with short-ranged weaponry. These characters can play drastically differently depending on your playstyle.

Have you thought about where each of these characters ranks in terms of their strength? Who is the best Nightfarer that you can rely on when going out into the battlefield? Will it be Wylder with his great strength and fast attacks, or is it Ironeye with the constant damage from afar? Let’s rank all the characters in this Elden Ring Nightreign character tier list.

The criteria that I am looking for in this tier list are who can handle the fight in Limveld without going down, dish out a good amount of damage, and who has the most utility to aid their allies in battle.

S-TierRaider, Wylder, Guardian
A-TierRecluse, Ironeye
B-TierExecutor, Revenant
C-TierDuchess

S-Tier

In the A-Tier, I have Raider, Wylder, and Guardian. These three will rarely let you down and give you the most room for error. Starting with Raider, this hulk can take a punch and keep on standing. You can use his skill to push through enemy attacks and knock them back with ease. Plus, the boost from the totem he summons is great in boss fights for both a damage increase and for knocking enemies down.

Next up is Wylder, the man who flips around with a grappling hook. Wylder is great for dealing damage, has a quick dodge, and his character art is more than capable of knocking down even the toughest enemies. Remember that grappling hook? Well, it helps him be the fastest character in the game, getting from one point to the next quicker than anyone else. On top of all of this, he can take a hit better than many other characters.

Guardian is the final character in this tier, and it is for his amazing defense. At first, I was iffy with Guardian, but then I realized it was because I was playing him all wrong. I love to go on the offensive, but Guardian has amazing defense, can stand his ground through any attack, and retaliate when needed. I have seen Guardian go toe-to-toe with a boss while me and a teammate were down, tanking hit after hit before getting us both up with a single character art activation. If that doesn’t scream S-Tier, I don’t know what does.

A-Tier

First up in the A-Tier is Recluse. This powerful sorceress may have a smaller health pool, but she can dish out damage better than many melee classes. In addition to her spells, she can reclaim the magical essence in the air to power her magical cocktails, leading to some amazing effects, provided you know how to use them effectively. Also, her character art is able to keep the entire team alive during boss fights if they can continuously hit the boss.

Ironeye is the second character in A-Tier, and he earned this spot by being extremely agile and able to deal proc damage from afar. Bows are very useful in Nightreign, and Ironeye can use them to his full advantage. His character art can deal a ton of damage and leave enemies poisoned if he has the right Relics equipped. Plus, the ability to pick your allies up from afar is very useful in many situations.

B-Tier

Executor takes the first spot in the B-Tier due to a lackluster character skill and very niche feel. I spent time working with his character skill, and while it works great, it takes far too much skill to be consistently reliable. I found it easier to dodge most of the time instead, because parrying with the cursed blade was so much effort for little payoff. The weapon art of the blade doesn’t even do much. His character art is great, and being able to turn into a beast for a short time is very cool, but it just doesn’t justify his skill.

I debated whether to put Revenant in A-Tier or B-Tier, but ultimately settled on B-Tier, which is unfortunate because she is one of my favorite characters. The reason I chose this is that Revenant isn’t as great to bring to every fight as almost all of the other Nightfarers. When a boss moves quickly and never stays put, it becomes very difficult to effectively deal damage with Revenant because she and her summons are too slow half the time. If her summons had more of a boost, I might be singing a different tune.

C-Tier

If you haven’t figured it out yet, Duchess is the only character who I consider to be C-Tier. Don’t get me wrong, she is a very strong damage dealer, and can wreck a boss if you know how to build her correctly. The big issue is that she has such a low health pool that if she gets hit once, she is dead, and you are quickly running to pick her up. She is a glass cannon, and it shows. If you make a mistake with her, she is dead or on the verge of collapse, and it makes the character less fun to play, knowing you can only take a single hit. Her invisibility is also great, but it doesn’t last very long, and enemies know exactly where you are if you attack them once.
