Sometimes in a wildly expansive game like Starfield, a few controls or utility options easily slip through a player’s fingers. One great example in this newest Bethesda title is accessing a spaceship’s inventory. If you haven’t dug through your vessel’s cargo hold quite yet, let’s talk about how you check your ship’s inventory in Starfield.
How to look at your cargo hold
Luckily for Starfield players, there are readily accessible ways to check their spaceship’s inventory — you just have to find the right buttons/locations. To start, enter your personal character menu by using Tab (PC) or Menu (Xbox). From there, you should see your different skill trees, maps, inventory, and ship info divided into four quadrants. To access ship information, hover over/toggle over to the bottom left quadrant. That’s where you should see the above screen. Then, all you have to do is press F (PC) or X (Xbox) to reroute to your spaceship’s cargo hold/inventory. Once that opens, you should be able to sort, take, or fill your vessel’s inventory to your heart’s desire.
Completing the inventory mission in Starfield
After you reach the United Colonies hub of New Atlantis, your player gets a collection of tutorial-style missions that take you through various tasks, like trying out the workbench and research desk. One of these tutorial tasks is checking out your ship’s inventory. While you can do this task through your character menu, it does not count for the mission. Instead, to complete this task you have to enter your ship itself. From there, you climb the ladder into the hull of your ship and enter the cockpit. Then, in the cockpit, you should find an electronic panel to your left. When you hover over this panel, it should show you your ship’s cargo hold/inventory, letting you take from or transfer objects into the storage space.
