When you begin Starfield, you get to choose a trio of traits for your character to help flesh out their skills and background. For example, you can give them a religious origin or an introverted personality. However, the one old-school Oblivion fans might be the most excited about is Hero Worshipped, which brings the infamous Adoring Fan to the game. So, let’s talk all about the Adoring Fan in Starfield.
Who is the Adoring Fan?
The Adoring Fan is a character from Oblivion. If you fight in the Arena and become the Champion, the Adoring Fan will approach you, wanting to become your companion and follower. As a follower, the fan wouldn’t fight, only run and hide. Despite not being of much use, though, the Adoring Fan is a fan favorite of many long-time Bethesda lovers.
What is the Hero Worshipped Trait in Starfield?
The Hero Worshipped trait is one of the many traits you may choose from during character creation. When you choose Hero Worshipped, you will spawn The Adoring Fan in the game. The Adoring Fan will appear and approach you after you’ve finished The Old Neighborhood quest, the same time your parents will send you a letter for the Kid Stuff trait. He will find you, gush about his adoration of you, and request to join your crew. You may accept him, decline him, or kill him.
If you add him to your crew, he will spend most all of his time on the ship giving you odd compliments. Depending on the person, this can be charming, funny, or annoying.
Hero Worshipped is hardly one of the best starting traits in Starfield — arguably, it’s one of the worst with the least perks. But for long-time Bethesda fans, it can be a nice bit of nostalgic joy.
What can the Adoring Fan do?
Once you meet the Adoring Fan and add him to your crew, you’ll find he has meager skills in:
- Weight Lifting
This makes him a useful follower for carrying your loot and getting you small gifts, but otherwise, there are much better followers out there. He can also act as a caretaker for some of your outposts.
Be warned: if you choose this trait but find it annoying later, there is no way of getting rid of the Adoring Fan. Unless you kill him, of course, but be careful. None of your companions will like that. So, if you want to maintain a good reputation and rid yourself of the Adoring Fan, make sure to do it privately. Or, do your best to put the Adoring Fan in dangerous situations and let the many enemies in the game do it for you.
