Minecraft is always growing. As more mobs are added to the game, the blocky world comes to life even more. Most of the time, you can expect semi-recognizable creatures to be added, but now and then, Mojang brings in something new. That is the case with the Sniffer. This big-snouted mob is useful for finding Ancient Seeds you won’t find any other way. Here is how to get Sniffer Eggs in Minecraft Trails and Tales.

Where to find Sniffer Eggs in the Minecraft Trails and Tales update

Sniffer Eggs are a unique addition to Minecraft. While you can get them by breeding Sniffers, the mob does not appear natively in the overworld. Instead, you will need to use some archeology skills to find them.

You must first have a Brush to get a Sniffer Egg in the Minecraft Trails and Tales update. You can craft one by combining a Feather, Copper Ingot, and a Stick. The crafting recipe calls for putting them straight down the middle slots of the crafting grid in that order. Additionally, you will be underwater, so a Potion of Water Breathing will also be helpful.

After you have a Brush, you must find a Ruins structure in a Warm Ocean biome. This ocean’s water will be a little lighter than other water and will be nearby warmer climate biomes like Jungles and Savannas. These are where coral reefs can appear. Look for a structure made of Cut Sandstone, Polished Granite, and Light Blue Terracotta. You need to use your Brush on the Suspicious Sand blocks around this area when you find them.

Unfortunately, the chances of getting a Sniffer Egg are low even when you find the Ruins in a Warm Ocean biome. Suspicious Sand blocks have a slightly different look from normal Sand. When you brush, you will notice the sand act like it is breaking down, but if an item is inside, it will start creeping up. Sniffer Eggs look like a whole block item instead of the normal Spawn Egg look.

After you get your Sniffer Egg, take it home and place it on top of a Mossy block for it to hatch within 10 minutes. Placing it on any other kind of block will extend the duration. Once it hatches, the Sniffer will be in its kid form, the Snifflet. From there, wait for it to grow to its adult form for the full Sniffer experience.
