How to unlock lockboxes in Dead Island 2

You may have come across various lockboxes in Dead Island 2. These lockboxes come in all different shapes and sizes but they all have two things in common; they require a key to open, and they contain some worthwhile loot. If you want to get your hands on the prize that is inside these lockboxes, you will need to get your hands on the key that opens it, which is much easier said than done.

You will discover your first lockbox in Dead Island 2 fairly early on in the game. Of course, you won’t know how to open it until later. This guide will show you how to unlock lockboxes in Dead Island 2.

How to open lockboxes in Dead Island 2

Lockboxes come in all shapes and sizes. Some of them will be wall safes while others can be garbage cans. No matter what, they will be locked and they will require a key to open. When you look at a lockbox, it will tell you exactly what key opens it. For instance, the Space Fox 2250 Prop lockbox requires Space Fox 2250 Prop Key. Others will have more original names.

The key to opening these chests is to track down the zombie who is holding the key. These zombies appear at different times and may not appear during the time you are at a specific location. For instance, if you want to open the Broseidon Safe, you will need to return to the GOAT Pen after completing the Halperin Hotel section of the game. Only during this time will the zombie with the key appear. Make sure to return to the area where a lockbox is to search for the zombie with the key. Each time you open one of these chests, you are guaranteed to get a strong weapon.
