It is necessary to manage your time in any RPG. If you don’t, you could see yourself wasting a lot of time doing mundane tasks that lower your overall experience. Luckily, if you need to fast forward through a time period quickly, you can do so. Here is how to wait in Starfield and make time pass quickly.

How to pass the time in Starfield

To wait in Starfield, you will need to sit on a furniture piece. If you find a chair, couch, or bench, you can interact with it to sit down. When you do this, you can look around while sitting, and you will see a new option at the bottom center of your screen.

Press the corresponding button to wait when you see this, and a small menu will appear. On this screen, you can set the amount of time to pass between one and 24 hours. When you have the right amount set, confirm it, and you will see the hours pass by quickly. If you decide not to wait, just back out of the menu and stand up.

Sometimes, there are Starfield quests and missions that only appear after a certain amount of time has passed. That is why waiting can be a useful feature. If you lay down in a bed and choose to rest for a while, you will get some extra benefits. Not only will you recover your health while sleeping, but you’ll get a momentary experience boost and can recover from some negative status effects. Be sure to use the wait feature in Starfield also to make the time turn to day or night, wait for a store to open, or even make a companion no longer be upset with you.
