When getting into Disney Dreamlight Valley, you will interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. It is a relaxed approach to a game that isn’t quite the same as Animal Crossing, but similar. However, it is hard to sell that to someone who has never played if they are iffy about whether or not they will like it. With that in mind, can you avoid putting money down on the game? Is Disney Dreamlight Valley free?

Is Disney Dreamlight Valley free-to-play?

As of this writing, Disney Dreamlight Valley is not free-to-play but will be in the future. The game was intended to be free but is currently in early access. As of now, the only way to play is to purchase one of the early access versions available in your platform’s store. If you are a Game Pass subscriber, you can also download the game on Xbox and play it as part of the subscription. PlayStation Plus subscribers can also get a two-hour trial for the game.

While Gameloft has not announced a full release for Disney Dreamlight Valley to go free yet, you can expect it to happen before the end of 2023. The company has released a roadmap for the rest of the year, which you can see below. If you look at the Late 2023 section, many big updates are coming to the game, including multiplayer. A “new chapter” like this seems to hint at a full launch at this time.

With wording like “late 2023,” we would expect this content drop to come out in December. October and November are possible, but given how those are the busiest times of the year for big releases, Disney Dreamlight Valley might be better off going free-to-play in December. Of course, until an official announcement is made, this is all just speculation.
