Do you want to master the parry/perfect guard system in Lies of P? When it comes to soulslike games, parrying and guarding are almost always included and Lies of P is no exception to this. In the game, you will need to rely on your guarding skills to help you get through some difficult areas.
Failure to master or at least gain some skill in guarding will result in your imminent demise. Alas, the only way to truly perfect the art is to throw yourself into the game and Lie or Die. Here is how to parry and perfect guard in Lies of P.
How to parry/perfect guard in Lies of P
There is no real parry system in Lies of P. Instead, you will be using your guarding to stagger foes and get the upper hand. To guard in Lies of P, press the LB button on Xbox or L1 on PlayStation. This will result in you holding up your weapon to block an attack.
To perform a perfect guard, you need to get your timing down. Just like with parrying in other action RPGs, you will need to perform a guard action just before an attack hits. If done correctly, you will see red sparks flash and you won’t take any damage.

Guarding in general will protect you from getting hurt, at least for the most part. A normal guard will block part of the damage but a perfect guard will negate all of the damage from an attack.
How to stagger foes in Lies of P
To stagger an enemy, perform attacks and guards until you see a white outline around the enemy’s health bar. When this happens, the enemy is staggerable. During this time, you can hit the enemy with a charge attack to stagger them.
A staggered foe will be open to attack. This will allow you to perform a fatal attack or repost by walking up to them and performing a basic attack.
