While at first glance Palworld may appear to be just “Pokémon with guns” it is quite different. In fact, it is more of a survival game like Ark: Survival Evolved than the traditional monster-catching games you knew growing up. With that different focus on gameplay, Palworld has a much different multiplayer set-up than you would see in Pokémon Violet and Scarlet. Here is the Palworld multiplayer explained.
How to play multiplayer in Palworld
To play multiplayer in Palworld, the created world must first have multiplayer turned on when created. If this was set to off at creation, you can change it by going to the World Settings in the main menu when you go to load the world. If you are dealing with a multiplayer error, you might have to play solo.
To join a friend, they will need to share the invite code for their world. This can be found in the Options tab of the menu when in-game. Reveal the code and send it to your friends to have them join your world.
How many people can play Palworld at once?
If you are playing Palworld multiplayer on a dedicated server through Steam, you can play with up to 32 people. For regular online co-op play, only up to four can play. At early access launch, anyone playing on Xbox or through the Xbox app on PC can only have up to four players.
Is Palworld crossplay?
At early access launch, only Xbox and Xbox app Palworld players can crossplay. Steam players can not migrate to servers on either of those platforms.
Do saves carry over between worlds?
Saves for each world are directly tied to that world. If you build a base on one server and move to another one, you will not have that base anymore. All Pals you catch and train are also tied to that single world as well. Keep returning to the same world you have been playing to keep your progress.
What can I do in a Palworld multiplayer game?
You can work alongside your friends and battle and train your Pals to get stronger while also accumulating various resources and building bases. Technically, you could also cause some grief by attacking each other, but the co-op experience is better when you work together.
