Do you want to choose the best traits in Starfield? There are plenty of traits to choose from that will alter your character in different ways. Some will increase your health but take away your healing abilities while others will change how your character performs on land or in space.
Your choices at the start of the game will have an effect on your entire playthrough so it is important to choose carefully. Of course, you can always choose to not have any traits if you don’t want to take any risks. Here are what we feel are the best starting traits in Starfield.
Best Starting Traits in Starfield
Starfield presents you with a decently sized list of traits to choose from. In total, there are 17 different traits. Since these traits are optional, you don’t need to choose any or you can choose up to three. We find that the best are the following traits:
- Hero Worshipped
- Wanted
- Extrovert/Introvert
- Empath
- Terra Firma/Spaced
Let’s break each of these down to give you some more information.
Hero Worshipped
This trait is a joke based on the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. With this trait, you have earned the attention of an annoying fan who will randomly jabber at you. As a bonus, he will join your ship’s crew and give you gifts. Think of him as a free crew member who joins just because they like you. You can assign him to outposts and give him jobs. If you don’t like him, you can also make him go away.
Wanted
Wanted is a great way to earn some extra experience and loot but it can be a bit of work to live with. This trait will make it so that some armed mercenaries will occasionally show up and try to kill you. As a bonus, you get more experience from the fights and you always get the benefit of increased damage when you are low on health. It sounds like a win-win to us.
Extrovert/Introvert
With the Extrovert trait, you use less oxygen when adventuring with human companions. This is a bit unfortunate at the start of the game since you adventure with a robot for a while, but once you get more companions, you will have a nice little bonus. If you would rather adventure alone or with a robotic ally, you can take the Introvert trait to get the same effect.
Empath
Empath makes it so that performing actions your companion likes will give you a temporary increase in combat effectiveness. This is great as long as you know everything that your companion likes and you don’t upset them. Upsetting your companion will result in the opposite effect. This is a trait that is great for the added roleplay effect.
Terra Firma/Spaced
In Starfield, you will end up fighting in space and on the surface of different planets. Terra Firma makes it so you have increased health and oxygen when on the surface of a planet but decreased when in space. This is great for those who like to stick to the ground and avoid flying too much. You can get the opposite effect if you decide to go with the Spaced trait.
