Filling out your skill tree in Diablo 4 is one of your main tools to surviving whatever challenge is thrown your way. Not only do you get your attacks from this section, but there are many passive at play that modify those abilities. That is the case with the sorcerer when you make it to the end of the tree and can choose your Key Passive. One of the most popular selections here is Avalanche. Why is it such a popular move for ice builds, though? Here is what you need to know about the Avalanche Key Passive in Diablo 4.
Is the Avalanche Key Passive good in Diablo 4?
The Avalanche Key Passive in Diablo 4 is a great tool for anyone who is running an ice build for their sorcerer. With this chosen, all of your frost skills have a chance to make your next usage of Frozen Orb, Ice Shards, and Blizzard take no mana and deal 40% extra damage. Any vulnerable enemies will have double the chance to activate this passive.
While 10% for this to work may sound small, this is pretty significant in a fast-moving game like Diablo 4. You already will have these frost attacks being thrown around all the time, and some attacks will have extra chances for it to activate when you hit multiple enemies.
Your other Key Passive choice for an ice sorcerer is Shatter. This will make any enemies you freeze explode with 25% more damage. On its own, that’s not a terrible choice, but Avalanche just offers so much more. Managing your mana is a key component of dealing constant damage with your sorcerer. Having a free use of these specific abilities alongside the boost in damage is huge. With all of that in mind, we highly recommend using the Avalanche Key Passive for your ice-build sorcerer in Diablo 4.
