Microtransactions have completely supplanted themselves in the gaming industry. For some, that is a sign of the apocalypse, but it is a truth many have accepted. Many dedicated players don’t think twice about charging their cards to load up on various currencies. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, COD Points are returning. Should you be worried about losing your currency from MW2? Will COD points transfer over to Modern Warfare 3?
Will COD Points on MW2 carry over to MW3?
For most people, all your COD Points from MW2 and Warzone will carry over into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. When you sign into MW3 with your Call of Duty account, you should see your previous balance just as it was on last year’s game. However, there is a situation where you could sign in and see you have lost your point balance.
If, for whatever reason, you decide to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on a different platform, then you will lose access to the COD Points you had on the previous platform. For example, a player with 1,000 COD Points on Xbox that jumps over to PlayStation will lose access to that currency unless they return to the previous platform.
COD Points aren’t the only thing that will transfer to Modern Warfare 3. All Operators, skins, blueprints, and other items you own that appear in both games will be accessible when you jump over. However, vehicles that do not appear in MW3 obviously will not have those MW2 cosmetics, and the Wartracks from MW2 are not being carried over. Most items you unlocked in MW2 will be available in Modern Warfare 3. Unfortunately, if you ever decide to return to MW2, the unlocks you make in MW3 will not be available there.
In short, as long as you are playing on the same platform that you played MW2 on, all of your COD Points will transfer over to Modern Warfare 3, plus some other items you already owned.
