What are your thoughts on the Throwing Knife featured in the latest Helldivers 2 Warbond Viper Commandos? It seems a large chunk of the community agrees that it needs a bit of a rework. While fun to use, it doesn’t hold up to the stealthy nature it is supposed to have. It has no issues killing smaller foes and can even take down a charger with four hits to the leg. Perhaps this item is better suited for the Illuminate when they appear.
Many members of the Helldivers 2 community have been talking about the Throwing Knife on Reddit. For instance, user ANGRYlalocSOLDIE posted about the knife and the Helldivers’ inability to pick it up once it has been thrown. In the post, they stated, “I literally see it on the ground or in that corpse. Why can’t I collect it back nad re-use it?”
This is one issue that players have with the knife. You get eight of them and yet that doesn’t feel like nearly enough to accomplish anything in a mission. It takes four to take down a charger. After that, you only have four left for smaller foes or another larger enemy. Being able to pick them up would be a very useful method of replenishing your supply without the need for a supply drop.
One Helldivers 2 player pointed out that the knives seem to go through shields just fine saying, “Not quite no utility. They seem to just go through shields without problem. Guess we know who that ability’s for.” Another user replied, “I am super keen to see if that is an ability intended for the new faction or just unintended.” Many have assumed the Illuminate will be making an appearance in Helldivers 2 soon. Leaks have been abound showing different models of the new faction. Perhaps the Throwing Knives will be most suited for taking out this new faction since the weapon will be able to go through shields.
