The Sony controversy had many players up in arms over Helldivers 2. Despite the anger, the Helldivers 2 community managers stood by the side of the players. One community manager, however, did more than some expected by telling players to review bomb the game and “make their displeasure known.” This community manager is known as Spitzerfx on the Helldivers 2 Discord server and they were officially demoted from associate community manager to Helldiver.

To repeat Spitzerfx’s own words from earlier, “Today is a dark day.” This post rocked many Helldivers who believed that the associate community manager was spared after the comments made during the Sony debacle. Just a day prior, they were mentioning that they said, “Almost. Not quite,” when asked if they had been fired.

When asked later in the day about a confirmation, Spitzerfx let everyone know that they “can’t confirm anything anymore.” Shortly after, they sent a final message thanking everyone for their support before signing off. Their last message read, “I appreciate all the support and I appreciate even more that everyone can play the game again without restrictions. I knew I was taking a risk with what I said about refunding and changing reviews. I stand by it. It was my job to represent the community, that’s what I did.”

As of writing this, Spitzerfx has officially been demoted to a standard Helldiver in the community Discord. One user asked if it is possible for the ex-community manager to get their job back to which Spitzerfx replied that it is unlikely. We will always remember the way that Spitzerfx stood up for the community and helped their fellow Helldivers get their voices heard. As they signed off for the day, the community showered the old CM’s final message with tons of love. One user even said, “I’ll follow him to the ends of Super Earth.” We and the rest of the Helldivers 2 community salute you and all your work Spitzerfx.
