In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, there are numerous instances where you will be roaming around with multiple people in your party. Because of this, you might want to know how to change party leaders. Luckily, you can do this at any time, as well as change your party composition. With many playable characters to choose from, you have a good number of party combinations.

When you change your party, you can choose who you want as the leader. This means that you can choose which character you swap to at the start of a battle. With this feature, you will most likely want to swap to your favorite character when battles begin. This guide will show you how to change party leaders in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

How to switch party leaders in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

If you want to switch party leaders, start by accessing the menu by pressing the options button. Once you are in the main menu, go to the Combat Settings menu. You might be tempted to go to the party menu but that is not needed here.

Now that you are in the combat settings menu, highlight the character you want to be the leader and press the triangle button. This will set them as the leader of the party. You will also tell which character is the current leader thanks to the leader tag next to their name.

As stated previously, the leader of your party is who you will switch to when battles begin. Just because a character is the leader does not mean that you will be walking around the world as them. Most of the time, you will travel the world as Cloud, but if Yuffie, Tifa, or Barret are set as the leader, you will automatically switch to them when you attack an enemy or when an enemy attacks you.

How to change your party in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

If you have more than three party members, some will not participate in battle. To change who you have in your party, go to the menu and select combat settings. From there, you will see the list of all your current party members both in and out of your party. Party members that aren’t currently fighting will be greyed out.

Press the square button to change your party. This will bring up a new menu where you can use the R1 and L1 buttons to switch your party. You can also select individual members and swap them out if you don’t like the presets chosen by the game. Cloud will often be locked since he is the main protagonist.
