It’s very common in survival games to be penalized when you die. While there’s no life mechanic in these games, you will often drop your inventory, leading you to need to get back to where you fell to get your items back. If you have already made a save in Palworld, you might have this happen to you. Luckily, you can change it. Here is how to change the death penalty in Palworld.
Where to change the death penalty in Palworld
To change the death penalty in Palworld, you will need to adjust your game settings. Start up Palworld and select the world you want to adjust. Before entering the game, select Change World Settings. On the next page, you can change a few options, including your difficulty. If you change to Easy, you will not drop items upon death anymore. Normal and Hard will cause the death penalty to be on.
While the difficulty settings above will take care of your death penalty problems, you can also adjust them regardless of the difficulty you are playing on. When on the Game Settings page, select Custom Settings under Custom Difficulty. Scroll down near the bottom and you can find Death Penalty.
There are four options you can set your death penalty setting to. Choose between:
- No drops
- Drop all items except equipment
- Drop all items
- Drop all items and all Pals on team
The settings are pretty self-explanatory, but the No drops option is the easiest one. With this, you will no longer lose items when you die. When you respawn, you’ll have everything you had on you when you died. We don’t recommend choosing to lose your Pals as well when you die because that will cause even more headaches when traveling back to your pack. You won’t have your mount Pals for quickly getting to where you need to go.
