While most Diablo IV quests are very straightforward, a handful of them are more riddles than they are quests. One such mission is the Secret of the Spring, a Fractured Peaks side quest that gives very little direction. However, the solution to this puzzle is a lot simpler than you might think.
Where is the Secret of the Spring in Diablo IV?
While exploring the wilds of the Fractured Peaks in Diablo IV, you’ll find a loose note with a riddle on it. The riddle says:
Beacon of warmth in winter’s embrace
Patience rewarded by natures own grace
After that, the quest will mark a small spot on the Frigid Expanse part of your map. This is where you’ll find the mysterious spring itself. All you have to do is go Northeast of the Forsaken Quarry.
However, once you get there, there are no interaction prompts to send you into some dungeon below the spring or set a fire to get that aforementioned “warmth.” So what do you do next with this riddle?
How to solve the Secret of the Spring puzzle
For the puzzle, the main key is that it wants you to wait. But don’t be tricked by the wording and stand by the spring for an hour. This Diablo IV wants you to tell the spring itself to “wait.” Yes, that means it’s time to bring out your emote wheel.
Like many other tricky little wordplay Diablo puzzles, this one will require the use of your emote wheel. Unless you’ve altered your settings, press the E button and open your emote wheel. From there, use the customize button to look at all your emote options. You should be able to find a “Wait” prompt below the “Yes.” Place the “Wait” emote in your emote wheel and hit save.
Once back in your game, open your emote wheel again and use the “Wait” prompt. Your character will say “halt” aloud and a buried chest will appear from the ground. From this chest you’ll get a few items, gold, and EXP and the quest will be fulfilled.
