Ken Levine and Ghost Story Games have given us a story trailer during the January State of Play presentation for Judas. The video below shows off the studio’s first project since its formation after 2013’s Bioshock Infinite. While we saw a reveal trailer last year, the most recent State of Play gave us a deeper look into gameplay and the current hostile environment, and this looks right in line with Bioshock, which is not a bad thing, in our opinion.

Judas is a first-person shooter with a focus on many of the same elements as the Bioshock games. Instead of the underwater city of Rapture or the city in the clouds, Columbia, this game takes place on a disintegrating starship. The messaging around the game has to do a lot with this question of “Will you fix what you broke?” implying that the shuttle’s downfall may be something our character caused.

Between revolting civilians and mechanical entities, you will be utilizing a bunch of not-plasmid abilities mixed with guns. Electricity, fire, and a whip-like ability show up in the trailer, so we expect plenty more useful things shooting out of your hands to take down your foes.

The Judas story trailer straight-up has a lot of Bioshock DNA in it, which isn’t necessarily surprising, given that Ken Levine is heading the project. The next game from this team has been a long time coming since its dismantling and renaming from the former Irrational Games. Ghost Story Games will be self-publishing this, which is not something you see much from a developer owned by a larger parent company.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date or even a window for Judas yet.
