Nintendo finally showcased the Kirby Air Riders gameplay, and the game appears to be coming along nicely. Various features were revealed, such as new playable characters, different tracks, and the news that many were dreading… the need to press a second button. With the game reaching an older audience that experienced the original game, it is time for things to become a slight bit more complex. Instead of just a boost button, players will now also need to press a special button.

Kirby Air Riders Gameplay Revealed

Sakurai took to the screen during a special Nintendo Direct to reveal more information about the upcoming Kirby Air Riders game. This game took everyone by surprise when it was announced earlier this year. After all, the original game was released more than 20 years ago in 2003, making it a reasonable assumption that Nintendo didn’t care to bring back the series.

During the gameplay reveal, Sakurai showcased each of the riders in the game. You will obviously have Kirby, but there is also King Dedede, Meta Knight, Bandana Waddle Dee, Waddle Doo, Chef Kawasaki, Knuckle Joe, Gooey, Cappy, Starman, Magolor, and Susie. That is a rather large cast of characters to choose from this time around.

Along with the new characters, Sakurai revealed that the game will be slightly more complex, as Kirby Air Riders requires the use of a second button. As revealed during the Direct, the B button will be used to unleash your burst, and the Y button will be used to unleash your special attack, allowing you to break through the competition.

Kirby Air Riders Gets a Release Date

If new characters and special abilities weren’t enough, Kirby Air Riders was confirmed to be releasing this year. Instead of being pushed back to 2026 as many feared, the game will be released on November 20, 2025, putting it only three months away.

Along with the announcement of the release date, Nintendo revealed the price for the title. This is something many have been wondering since Mario Kart World was released with an $80 price tag. Rest assured, Kirby Air Riders will not be $80, but it will still fetch a premium price tag of $70, so keep this in mind when choosing between it and Pokémon Legends Z-A.
