Magic: The Gathering is one of a number of game designers and creators that took home awards for their work. GAMA and the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design announced the winners of the 2024 Origins Awards during an exclusive ceremony this past week. These awards are given to retail games (no crowdfunding only games) that were released within the past year. These awards have been held annually since 1975 and acknowledge some of the best work in gaming.

- Best Heavy Strategy Game – Dune: Imperium – Uprising
- Best Role-Playing Game Supplement – Dune: Power and Pawns
- Best Thematic Board Game – Freelancers: A Crossroads Game
- Best Party/Social Board Game – Smug Owls
- Best Solo Board Game – Legacy of Yu
- Best Children’s & Family Board Game – Diced Veggies
- Best Puzzle Game – Threads of Fate
- Best 3D Component – Threads of Fate – Puzzle Box
- Best Role-Playing Game Adventure – Heckna! Deluxe Box Set

Awards like these are not only a great opportunity to recognize work that pushes the industry forward, but also a way for the community to discover creators they may not have yet heard of. The Origins Awards showcase that big names like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons still put out quality products alongside small and indie creators.
