The Mario and Luigi games of old are some that many fans remember fondly. Previous entries in the series include Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Dream Team, Paper Jam, Superstar Saga, and Partners in Time. There are a fair number of games in the series but Nintendo has not announced a new entry in the game series since 2015. The last entry in the series was Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam which was released on the 3DS back in 2015 – almost a decade ago. It is safe to say that fans have probably given up hope of getting another entry in the series.
Announced during the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024, the Mario and Luigi franchise is getting another entry and it comes in the form of Mario and Luigi: Brothership – a brand-new tale in the Mario and Luigi franchise. The new game is sure to have plenty of great new puzzles to complete using the combined powers of Mario and Luigi.

The trailer for the game showed off many interesting puzzles such as climbing walls, ramps, and a new move which has Mario and Luigi flying over a gap while spinning like a tornado. The classic style of turn-based combat is back which was a highlight of the series. This combat system is also used in the Paper Mario games.
We also got a look at a new race of characters in the game that appear to be themed after electricity with many of them looking like outlets with electrical wires. The game will take place “across mysterious islands” and will feature “evolved bros. moves” from the original. Not much else is known about the game as this is the first reveal but more information is sure to come in the near future as Mario and Luigi: Brothership is set to be released on November 7, 2024.
