One of the core mechanics that makes Marvel Rivals stand out among other hero shooters is the team-up mechanic. This allows players to gain bonuses when specific characters are on the same team. For instance, The Hulk and Wolverine can perform the Fastball Special. If Squirrel Girl and Spider-Man are on the same team, one can throw webbed acorns and the other gets a damage bonus. These help change the dynamic of the match, but there should be more team-up abilities in Marvel Rivals.

Speaking of abilities, why isn’t Magneto able to affect Wolverine with his powers of magnetism? Wolverine might also be nerfed once The Thing is added to the game on February 21.

Marvel Rivals needs more team-up abilities

According to Omari_03 on the Marvel Rivals SubReddit, there should be more team-up abilities in Marvel Rivals. When you think about the characters in the game, there are some obvious ones that should have team-up abilities that don’t. The examples that the user gives are Captain America and Winter Soldier, Storm and Black Panther, Magik and Doctor Strange, and Punisher and Wolverine. Of course, more pairs than these deserve team-ups.

Many were eager to point out that Thor and Loki should be able to perform their “get help” trick, allowing Thor to throw Loki and his clones at the enemy team. Imagine Loki being thrown at you and then splitting into multiple clones. It would add some amazing chaos to the match. Along with this, many were on board with Cap and Bucky having a team-up since the pair are childhood friends. It almost feels criminal that these two don’t have any interaction outside of their dialogue.

Hopefully, we get more team-up abilities with future updates that give us even more fun ways to interact with our teammates and fool the enemy team. We can only imagine how great it would be if Spider-Man and Iron Man had a team-up ability.
