It is safe to say that Marvel Rivals is currently dominating the hero shooter space. The game has been seeing consistent player counts in the hundreds of thousands and even had an all-time peak of over 600,000 last month on Steam. Compare this to other games in the genre such as Overwatch and you will see that Marvel Rivals is overshadowing the competition. Well, it has become apparent that Marvel Rivals could see competition from its natural adversary. Of course, we are talking about DC.

While Marvel Rivals is excelling in the hero shooter space, that doesn’t mean it is without its issues. Many players say that the game has a serious problem with Smurf accounts. It was also reported that Marvel Rivals was almost canceled so the CEO could save money.

Marvel Rivals could see competition from DC

James Gunn recently spoke at a DC Studios event where he was asked about the possibility of a DC version of Marvel Rivals. To this, the well-known director stated, “Totally possible, I’d be open to it.” Despite the answer being very short, many have already jumped on the possibility of Marvel Rivals competing with its natural adversary. Needless to say, many are skeptical that DC could pull off the same feat as Marvel Rivals. This is mainly because many are worried that WB Games would destroy it.

this can honestly be only good for Rivals…

User -Aone posted about the possible Marvel Rivals competition on the SubReddit, saying, “This can honestly be only good for Rivals.” In response to this, many stated that they fear WB Games developing such a game. One user stated, “In the hands of WB games I can only expect this to fail miserably.” Another user said, “Competition is always needed, but the competitors actually need to be good.”

If DC wants to be a serious competitor to Marvel Rivals then it will need to find a serious developer that can create a strong hero shooter title. Unfortunately, it does not seem like many have faith in WB Games, the main creator of DC titles, to be a strong adversary to Marvel Rivals.
