Fresh content is required to keep a live service game going. If you fail to keep the game feeling fresh, players will leave it behind and move on to the next big thing. Marvel Rivals was launched with a wide selection of heroes from popular characters like Star Lord to lesser-known ones like Jeff the Land Shark. Recently, two members of the Fantastic Four were added to the game for the first half of season one. Two more characters are expected to be added in the second half of the season. Unfortunately, this won’t happen for the rest of the game’s life cycle. In a recent interview, Marvel Rivals director Guangyun Chen broke down exactly how often the team plans to add new heroes to the game.

With the Fantastic Four joining the roster in Marvel Rivals, many fans have been comparing Mr. Fantastic to the popular anime and manga character Luffy from One Piece. Another player also discovered that you can stop bots in their tracks mid-game using Invisible Woman’s cloaking ability.

Guangyun Chen talks with Metro about new characters

Recently, Marvel Rivals director Guangyun Chen did an interview with the British news outlet Metro. During the interview, the outlet asked, “Have you spoken about the cadence players can expect new heroes to join the game? Are you aiming for a couple a year, or as many as possible?” To this, Chen stated, “Every season we’ll be rolling out fresh seasonal stories, new maps, and new heroes.” He went on to say that each season will be broken down into two halves.

We can expect each season in the game to last for three months and Chen stated, “For each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero.” This means that we can expect a new hero to be added to the game once every month and a half or two heroes each quarter for a total of eight heroes per year. That is a fairly decent rate. With the game already having 35 characters with two more on the way later this season, we can expect the total to rise to 43 by the end of the year.

There is no telling exactly which characters will be added by the end of the year but The Thing and Human Torch will be added in the second half of season one. Other characters that have been leaked for future seasons include Angela, Hit-Monkey, Blade, Deadpool, Professor X, Jean Grey, Colossus, and a few others.
