Marvel Rivals has been an extremely fun experience for many players since it was released. Not many have complained about the game but the complaints that are there are fairly relevant. One of the biggest issues with Marvel Rivals that players have been pointing out recently is Smurfing. There are plenty who have said that it has “gotten out of control” and that something should be done about the issue.
Recently, Marvel Rivals underwent layoffs where the game director and the team responsible for the team-up mechanic were laid off. The game also received its first mid-season update which added The Thing and Human Torch to the roster of heroes.
Smurfing is getting out of hand in Marvel Rivals
Before the Smurfing complaint, the biggest issue players had with Marvel Rivals was the map variety. With that seemingly being handled with the addition of Central Part and many new map leaks, players are now focused on smurfing being the biggest plague in the game. If you aren’t aware, smurfing is when a high-level or skilled gamer creates a new account in a game for the sole purpose of messing with less-skilled or lower-level players.
Players have been ranting about the game’s smurfing issue in a post created by Weso6Besto9 on the Marel Rivals SubReddit. In this post, the user states that they have seen “a couple of streamers/YouTubers say it’s required to have an alt account to be good at the game.” They also stated that a majority of the games they have played recently have “had a smurf in them.” On top of this, the user states that most of these accounts seem to be in platinum on ranked mode and it makes “getting out of plat a living hell.”
Many in the comments shared their experience with Smurf accounts with one saying, “Had a match against a ridiculous Jeff. Checked profile and his account was under 10 hours, brand new. All wins, all MVPs.” Some pointed out that players are using bots to boost accounts to level 10 just so they can go up against worse players. Many have condemned the action and are reporting players that they believe are performing the action.
