Join the powerful wizard Mordenkainen on a journey through the planes in the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons book titled Worlds & Realms. Published through Penguin Random House and written by Adam Lee, this hardcover book highlights fifty years of D&D lore and adventure.

Worlds & Realms is similar to some of Dungeons & Dragons’ other supplemental books such as Places & Portals from the A Young Adventurer’s Guide series. However, this one has a far more story-driven focus. It is a fully illustrated book with art from the early days of D&D to the present. Mordenkainen acts as a guide in this book, offering his unique insight into the places visited as well as the characters and lore of each. Mordenkainen is a well-established mage in the D&D universe, and was highlighted in the book Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes. He also has spells named after him that include Mordenkainen’s Magnificent Mansion and Mordenkainen’s Faithful Hound. His knowledge and eccentricity provide a fun vehicle for exploring the multiverse.

Something that makes this book very unique is that in addition to the lore, it also contains short stories. Authors Jaleigh Johnson, Jody Houser, Eric Campbell, Jasmine Bhullar, and Geoffrey Golden craft compelling stories of adventurers in these realms for readers to enjoy.

While there are no details released yet of what locations will be visited, there are some key ones that we think will be included. Faerûn on the Material Plane hosts some well-known locations from D&D lore such as the cities of Neverwinter, Waterdeep, and Baldur’s Gate. Other Planes of Existence include the four Elemental Planes of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. The Nine Hells is home to devils and the Abyss is home to demons. And that is only the tip of the iceberg of the vast universe of D&D.

Dungeons & Dragons: Worlds & Realms will be released on October 29, 2024. It’s currently available for pre-order at the price of $50. You can pre-order through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retailers that sell D&D books.
