Much has been happening in the world of Helldivers 2 lately. We started off the month with the Sony debacle. After this, the Polar Patriots Warbond was released to the dislike of many as it felt more rushed than previous Warbonds. Finally, we recently had news about the former CEO of Arrowhead stepping down and putting Shams Jorjani in his place. Now, Pilestedt is the CCO and plans on focusing more on the game to help improve its features and introduce new mechanics to make things more fun.
Speaking of adding mechanics to Helldivers 2, many have been wanting additional emotes and social options. It seems that they may be getting their wish as one of the Helldivers 2 community managers has confirmed that it is “probable” that we will be getting more emotes in the future. One member of the Helldivers 2 Discord server recently asked Community Manager Twinbeard, “Has the idea of an emote wheel come up in AH?” To this, Twinbeard responded by saying, “Yes. We’re looking into it. This is somewhere between plausible and probable.”
He went on to add that if an emote wheel is added that Helldivers 2 will get more emotes as well. Currently, there are only a few emotes in the game. These are the Explosive Handshake, Hug, High-Five, Scout Handshake, Salute, and Rock Paper Scissors. As many have discussed, it would be great to see more emotes added in the future, and even better to have emotes that aren’t focused on interacting with other players.
The emote wheel has been discussed before on a Reddit post where players had a general consensus of how it should operate. The idea is that pressing the emote button should use your preferred emote and holding it should bring up the emote wheel which allows you to choose from between four and six emotes. There are still many other additions that players would like to see such as the ability to use Req Slips to play Stratagem Hero or even additional Eagle-1 Stratagems.
