There’s always something special included with a D23 membership. On top of that, the annual extravaganza is well-known for revealing information about Disney’s upcoming ventures along with handing out some unforgettable promos. For those who are interested in the Lorcana trading card game, this year’s D23 membership includes an exclusive promo for a set 8 Iago card. Let’s break this down.
Recently, set 6 for Disney Lorcana titled The Azurite Sea was released. This set includes many new cards including multiple pirates, the inclusion of Big Hero 6 characters, and some specially-designed enchanted cards. There were many leaks leading up to the release of The Azurite Sea which included multiple Big Hero 6 cards. The latest reveal comes from a Reddit post by Waiting_For_Dentice which showcases the upcoming Iago card from set 8.
The card was first mentioned on the official D23 website which covers everything included in the 2025 membership. The special Iago card was revealed via Reddit and it has a great ability that is similar to the Captain Hook – Thinking a Happy Thought card. The ability states, “While you have another exerted character in play, this character can’t be challenged.” This allows all of your characters to act as bodyguards for this Iago. If you have multiple of this Iago, you can prevent your characters from being attacked.
Just like with the mentioned Captain Hook card, this character is part of the steel color. The overall stats of this Iago seem fair as well. It is a four-cost inkable with three strength and three willpower. Iago also gets you two lore each time he quests, making him a real threat if you can manage to get him out early.
Another Illumineer’s Quest is rumored
On top of the new promo card, another Illumineer’s quest has been rumored. The previous quest, themed after Ursula and titled Deep Trouble, has you and up to three friends fighting to take out the sea witch. This special gameplay variant was popular among fans of the game and many have asked for a second quest box to be released.
Set 8, should be released sometime in the spring and it is said to be themed after Aladdin – specifically Jafar. This has many believing that there will be another Illumineer’s Quest themed after the Aladdin villain. This will be exciting if the rumors turn out to be true.
