Borderlands 4 was just announced and the trailer was a pretty cool reveal by our standards. Borderlands 4 quickly jumped online to share in the excitement and celebrate the arrival of the fourth game in the mainline series. Understandably, many fans of the game series are sceptical about whether or not the game will be good. This is all thanks to the third game in the series which relied heavily on more juvenile humor and brought in characters that many had clear objections to (looking at you Ava) and a movie that bombed worse than a Suicide Psycho at the box office. Now, fans of the series are saying that Borderlands 4 better have a good story or it will officially destroy the series.

After the announcement, fans flocked to different social media platforms to voice their opinions about the upcoming game being released in 2025. One user said, “This game will either revive the franchise or completely kill it. There is no in-between.” Another user on X said, “Hopefully, the story and characters are a vast improvement on that of Borderlands 3.” To take things a step further, multiple users made comments asking for Ava, Maya’s young protégé, to bite the dust in the first act of the game. One more user said, “Guys get ready to see decade-old memes recycled for dialogue!!!!!” – an obvious dig at the writing in Borderlands 3.

As fans of the series, we are hoping that Borderlands 4 knocks it out of the park and we get a true revival of the series. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was decent but it didn’t scratch that Borderlands itch in the perfect way. Similar to other fans of the series, we were a bit disappointed in the direction that Borderlands 3 went, especially with the villains Troy and Tyreen. There are rumors that Handsome Jack might be coming back which will be awesome if the team can bring the same energy he had in Borderlands 2.

Check out the reveal trailer for Borderlands 4 below and see if you can discover all of the secrets hidden within it. Some have pointed out that they see Jack’s face near the end.
