Skyrim is the game that keeps on giving. Ever since its release in 2011, players and Bethesda have found new and unique ways to update and upgrade the fantasy epic. However, when it comes to taking the old and making it new, the players are consistently creating works of art when it comes to the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series. The latest creation comes straight out of Microsoft Paint. Yes, you read that correctly, MS Paint.
Posted and drawn by MS Paint master artist kettu1 — otherwise known as TT-Art — the artwork depicts the city of Whiterun drawn completely in the basic art application. Of course, fans immediately took to commenting on the stunning piece, stating just how impressive it all is. Yeah, you bet your sweetroll it’s impressive. Just look at the framing and composition for yourself. It’s part fairytale, part Lord of the Rings in scale, design, and creativity.
Kettu1 says MS Paint was the first program they used to create digital paintings. While they have used “more advanced programs,” the old-fashioned application has a sense of nostalgia to it. In total, it took around six hours to paint the scene with nothing but a mouse. You can check out the video timelapse of the picture being created below.
If we took an arrow to the knee for every time someone created a unique perspective of Whiterun, we’d have two arrows. Recently a fan created the city in Unreal Engine 5.
