A Baldur’s Gate 3 player has officially instant-killed one of the most beloved bosses in the game before he could even get to the chorus of his song. The player nuked Raphael by performing the incredibly powerful Blood Money reverse pickpocket maneuver that few ever use in the game because of its strange mechanics. This maneuver was so impressive, that even Larian Studios had to post about it.
Of course, many were quick to defend Raphael since he didn’t even get to start singing what is arguably the best song in the entire game. The poor unfortunate soul couldn’t even mutter a single word before getting annihilated in a blinding flash. But how was this amazing feat accomplished? Let’s break it down.
If you have never found the Twist of Fortune weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can do so by going to the Tollhouse in Act Two. After defeating the gold-clad foe here, you will get a weapon with a special ability called Blood Money. The Blood Money ability deals additional damage per 300 gold that the target possesses. Normally, this weapon doesn’t do much since not many NPCs carry around a lot of gold.
To nuke a boss like this player did, you simply need to reverse pickpocket the target and place thousands of gold in their inventory. In this case, the player placed 87,000 gold into Raphael’s pockets before striking him down with the Twist of Fortune mace. We suppose it is very fitting to see Raphael go out this way. That greedy devil definitely took too much and deserves this ending.
Of course, since Raphael is a fan-favorite character, many complained that the player missed out on the best song in the game. Some said that they admire the handiwork. There are even some who offered different methods of killing such as filling the room with all manners of explosives and blowing all the devils and demons to kingdom come. What is your favorite method of annihilating a boss?
