ConcoConcord’s first beta has officially passed us by and there are some clear issues that players have with the new hero-shooter. Luckily, there aren’t many that Firewalk will need to handle before the full release of the game. Unfortunately, if the devs don’t act quickly, it could lead to the downfall of Concord before it is even released. So what issues do players have with Concord and how can it be fixed before it is released in August? Let’s break this down.
There are multiple posts about issues in the beta but one by AntiOriginalUsername sums up the issues best. In the post, the user says, “Please fix the matchmaking! When someone leaves a game, it should definitely search for a new player to fill the role immediately and grant that person bonus XP for joining late. The second issue I noticed was that it would have been great for a tutorial playground for people to choose different crew members to test abilities/guns.”
After trying out the beta over the weekend, we noticed the same issues, as did many others. For starters, when players leave mid-game, there is no feature that searches for replacement players. Therefore, you can get stuck in a game where it is you against an entire squad. This will most likely turn off many players if it persists into the final build.
The second point that the user brings up is the lack of a tutorial/playground. While the game does tell you how to play, there is no means of testing out abilities outside of a match. We witnessed this as we got used to different characters. You get a brief period of time to read over each character’s abilities during a match or you can read over the abilities from the main menu. Of course, it is nice that you can read about the abilities but putting them to the test is a different story entirely and something else that could turn players away.
