Hero shooters are aplenty in 2024. With games such as Overwatch 2, Team Fortress 2, Apex Legends, and Valorant, players have a decent number to choose from. Of course, that isn’t preventing developers from trying to break into the genre with new formulas. Earlier this year, Concord attempted to draw attention from the big four in the genre but failed to last more than a month before Sony took it down. The next game on the list that will try to make it big before Marvel Rivals is released in December is Fragpunk – a “rule-changing” hero shooter that lets you alter the rules of play using cards. Fragpunk is set to have its closed beta soon but you can still possibly get access to it.
Everything you need to know about the Fragpunk closed beta
Fragpunk will be having its closed beta near the beginning of October on both Steam and Xbox Series X/S. The game was announced back in June as a hero shooter that allows you to bend the rules in your favor using various powerup cards. Some that have been shown off include the ability to make players’ heads bigger, a reaper that comes and kills players with less than 50% health, a fiery boost to your firepower, and a few more. Let’s break down everything you need to know about the Fragpunk closed beta.
When is the Fragpunk closed beta?
The beta starts on October 10, 2024, and runs until October 21, 2024. This gives you over a week to try out the game and see how you feel about it. There are multiple Lancers to try so you should be sure to try out as many abilities and characters as you can. You can expect the closed beta to start at around 2pm PDT or 5pm EDT.
What is included in the closed beta?
When you get access to the closed beta, you can expect to see the following:
- 5 new maps
- 2 new characters (Spider and Sonar)
- 2 new weapons (up to 17 now)
- 3 new game modes (Ranked Shard Clash, New Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Core)
How do you gain access to the Fragpunk closed beta?
If you want to get access to the beta, you can do so by going to the game’s Steam page and signing up for the closed beta. Select the button that says “Request access.” This doesn’t guarantee that you will get access to the beta but it does show your interest. If you are selected, you will be notified. You can sign up on Xbox via Xbox Insider. If you are selected to take part in the beta, you will be able to download the game early on October 8, 2024.
